Occupational exposure limits, hazardous substances, classification and labelling

The assessment of hazardous substances at the workplace has been the focus of our work for many years.

Our services include substance- and product-specific assessments as well as an evaluation of specific situations.

• Preparation of draft scientific summaries for the EU Scientific Committee for Occupational Exposure Levels (SCOEL)
• Classification and labelling of substances
• Preparation of safety data sheets
• Hazard assessment according to the German Hazardous Substances Ordinance
• Derivation of occupational exposure limits following the methodology described in the German TRGS 901
• Assessment of specific product groups such as metal-working fluids and epoxy resins

We are also engaged in several methodological projects in this field, e.g.:

• Identify substitutes for hazardous substances (German TRGS 440)
• Assessment of dermal exposure and rate of dermal absorption (EU project "RiskOfDerm")
• Occupational exposure limits for carcinogens (“traffic light” model)

The general manager of FoBiG, Dr. Fritz Kalberlah, is a member of the Committee for Hazardous Substances (Ausschuss für Gefahrstoffe, AGS) of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and is also a member of Sub-Committee III of the AGS.
