Safety assessment of cosmetic products, substance dossiers, exposure assessment

Marketing of cosmetic products in the European Union requires these products to be safe for consumers according to directive 76/768/EEC.

FoBiG offers support in fulfilling these and related requirements by preparing qualified safety assessments based on the guidelines of the Scientific Committees of the European Commission. Furthermore, we provide up-to-date information on your ingredients and also integrate the most recent evaluations and discussions.

Our experience with the assessment of cosmetic ingredients and our more general toxicological expertise enable us to offer additional services for the cosmetics industry:

• Documentation and assessment of toxicological data for cosmetic ingredients
• Preparation of substance dossiers (e.g. for submission to the Scientific Committee on Consumer Products)

The assessment of the exposure and health-related effects from substances from consumer products are another focus of our work. Several projects, e.g. for the Institute for Health and Consumer Protection (IHCP) of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission in Ispra, Italy , address the exposure and the possible effects due to substances in textiles, toys and other articles of daily use.
